Operators and contact
This notice covers the Widows Sons Directory provided by The Two Burning Tapers Podcast and administered by Shawn Parker and Casey Marrillia. Contact bowhunter11@gmail.com for privacy questions, access, correction, deletion, objections, or security concerns. Separate lodges, chapters, podcast platforms, and linked sites have their own practices.
Information and sources
You, inviters, administrators, and verifying members supply account email, legal and road names, chapter and lodge details, roles, phone, town, state or province, postal code, country, membership and dues status, photos, event activity, invitations, approvals, reports, and removal history. ChatGPT sign-in supplies account identity and may supply a display name; we do not receive your sign-in password. We record your typed signature name, account identity, timestamp, document version, and document fingerprint. Hosting providers may process IP addresses, browser details, and request logs. Information from others may be incomplete; contact us to correct it.
Purposes and legal bases
We use information to operate the directory, establish and renew access, connect members, display maps and events, maintain membership history and digital cards, respond to requests, prevent misuse, and record agreements. We do not sell directory records or use them for targeted advertising. Agreement acceptance does not subscribe you to podcast marketing. Where law requires a legal basis, processing depends on providing the requested service, permitted legitimate operational and security interests, legal obligations, or specific consent where required. Raise objections or withdraw consent-based permissions through Support; this does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful.
Member visibility and choices
Approved members can see names, chapter, lodge, role, profile photo, and membership history. Email, phone, and approximate map pins are visible to other verified members by default unless you change Privacy controls under My dues card. Hiding those fields does not hide your name, chapter, town text, photo, or membership tree entry. Global administrators retain operational access; authorized chapter and state leaders can see records within their administrative scope. Applicants can see the chapter and role on their invitation. Keep invitation and approval links private. We prohibit misuse, but cannot guarantee another member will not copy, screenshot, or improperly disclose information.
Location and providers
Current member forms request town or postal-area information, not home street addresses or live GPS. Legacy records may retain earlier address information; contact Support for removal. Town and postal-area details and event venue text are sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service for coordinates. Map tiles load from OpenStreetMap in your browser, exposing your IP address and requested map areas to that provider. Event venues can be precise, so do not post a private home address without permission. The website uses OpenAI/ChatGPT account identity where available. The iPhone app uses Supabase to send email codes and maintain native sign-in sessions. The service uses OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare for hosted processing, database, files, and operational security logs. Providers may process data outside your country. External podcast links lead to services with their own policies.
Photos, caches, and security
Profile and event images are stored with the hosting service and delivered through membership access checks. Some large profile photos are resized; not every upload is re-encoded, so remove sensitive location metadata before uploading. Do not assume metadata is stripped. Previously viewed images may remain in browser or device caches. Authentication, membership checks, and privacy controls reduce risk, but no service guarantees complete security. Report suspected compromise promptly. We assess incidents and provide notices when required by applicable law; disclaimers do not remove these obligations.
Retention and account deletion
Active records are retained to operate the app. Service removal is different from account deletion. Removal ends directory access while the member name, chapter, inviter, approvers, removal date, and removal actors may remain in the membership tree and audit history. Account deletion is available in the iPhone app under More → Delete account and on the website under Privacy controls. Confirmed deletion erases the active profile, contacts, photo, events and images, invitations, votes, reports, agreement receipt, dues card, settings, native identity link, and native sign-in identity; family-tree references are changed to “Deleted member.” A one-way coded deletion receipt is retained to prevent automatic restoration and to prove completion. Information legally required for security, claims, or compliance and provider backups may persist for a limited period. Copies previously downloaded by members cannot be recalled. Contact Support for access, correction, export, objection, or deletion questions.
Disclosures and your rights
Information is shared with members and authorized operators as described above, and providers needed to run the app. We may disclose information as legally required or reasonably necessary to address fraud, threats, or legal claims. Depending on location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, obtain a copy, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, appeal a decision, or complain to a regulator. Contact Support; we may need to verify identity. Do not send passwords or identification documents unless a secure, necessary method has been arranged. Signing does not waive statutory privacy rights.
Device storage, children, and updates
Sign-in providers use mechanisms needed for authentication. The app uses device storage for installation and presentation preferences and may cache static files. It does not intentionally add advertising trackers. Provider practices are governed by their notices. The app is for adults 18 and older; do not submit children's profiles or information. Report a child's information for review and removal. Material changes will be presented for acknowledgement before continued access; any new purpose requiring separate consent will require it. Versioned copies are available to save or print.
